About Tvedtsund Photography: Explorations in Nature and Humanity
Tvedtsund Photography is based out of the Eugene-Springfield, Oregon area.
With Tvedtsund Photography, I want to share the beauty, complexity, difficulties and intrigue that I find in nature and in humanity, and in how we relate with each other. My first photographic endeav0rs with professional level equipment started in 1974 and since then I have continued to hone my photographic perception and skills. The best of my older film photography has been digitized and is included on this site. My prints are done on archival photographic paper with archival ink, and framing and matting are done with acid-free mats and 99% UV protective glass. Matted and framed photographs are available in white or other mat colors. Canvas and metal versions of my photographs are also available, as are prints (without matting and framing).
Tvedtsund (old spelling) is specific place in Telemark, Norway and it refers to the narrowing or strait out of the mouth of Lake Nisser. Half of my family linage is from this area and I adopted this name based on my last name and linage and as a photographic metaphor for my photographic perspective, that of narrowing down to the essence of any image in terms of what we most value in it.
To view my photography, I have it on display at the Hilton Eugene and Hilton Conference Center in downtown Eugene and for the month of July, at the Oregon Wine Lab (488 Lincoln), in Eugene. My photography can also be found locally in a number of businesses and institutions. In addition, my photography has been published or displayed in print or on-line by The Oregonian (Portland), The Statesman Journal (Salem). Bill Sullivan’s “Atlas of Oregon Wilderness”, The Wilderness Society, PEW, Oregon Wild, Beyond Toxics, Cascadia Wildlands, Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics, Our Forests, and the Oregon Stream Protection Association.
